The bank robber had a walker. And a famous float builder is expanding.

‘Your bank is being robbed.’ It’s not everyday you see a bank surveillance photo of a would-be robber with a walker. Hardly the stuff of quick getaways, right? But that’s what happened at a Chase Bank branch in New Orleans last week, John Simerman reports.

A lot of OT: The former leader of the state board that oversees private security companies (yes, there is such a thing) received nearly $300K in improper pay, Louisiana’s Inspector General says. This isn’t the first time Fabian Blache III has been in the news stemming from his role at the Louisiana State Board of Private Security Examiners.

More than Mardi Gras: The Kern float-building empire is growing. The family’s business is expanding outside of New Orleans and outside the Mardi Gras season, and the company has purchased warehouse space in New Orleans East that will help that growth, business writer Stephanie Riegel reports.

What we’re following today: A New Orleans high school volleyball coach is trying to get her job back. Jodee Pulizzano had racked up more than 900 wins over 32 seasons, Chris Dabe reports. And a 7th Ward building, once a place where some of the founding fathers of jazz did their thing, has been named to the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s list of the 11 most endangered historic places, Doug MacCash writes.
