Issue No. 1071: April 2021
Patio weather is here to stay, and we have some great places to kick back in the sunshine and enjoy a few frosty cocktails. Plus, we’re dusting off those grills for aCaribbean-inspired shrimp appetizer and a versatile steak salad with an addictive creamy avocado dressing. And ready to start shuckin’? We have a refreshing white wine that’s a match made for oysters. Happy spring to you all and thank you for your continued support!

Cheers!

Recipe Spotlight: Grilled Steak Salad
with Spicy Avocado Dressing
This hearty grilled dinner salad is our favorite way to use up an abundance of in-season produce, no matter the time of year. In spring we’re adding blanched snap peas, shaved spring carrots, and grilled asparagus to the mix. Just don’t skip the silky avocado-buttermilk dressing—it’s incredibly versatile and tastes great on everything. Get the full recipe HERE

DIY: Goya Foods’ 10-Minute Caribbean Shrimp Bites
In this Goya original recipe, we’re combining their fried plantains (tostones) with citrus-marinated shrimp for a festive Caribbean-inspired appetizer. The shrimp soak up the lemon-cilantro marinade and make a perfect party bite when piled on freshly fried plantains. Learn how to make it yourself HERE.

Tanji’s Wine Finds: Suavia Soave Classico
When the weather gets warmer, our wines get crisper! The Suavia Soave Classico ($16) from northern Italy is bright, refreshing, and zesty—similar to a Sauvignon Blanc. It pairs nicely with light lemony pastas, risotto, scallops and freshly shucked oysters. Find it at your local H-E-B HERE.
