Happy Monday! U.S. stocks rallied on Friday to close out the trading week with gains. However, they were still down slightly on the week. The Nasdaq gained 2.3% in Friday's session and the S&P 500 added 1.5%.
Bitcoin Bears
Bitcoin tumbled to $45,000 over the weekend after some less-than-stellar comments from prominent crypto cheerleader Elon Musk. The sell-off began when Musk's electric vehicle company, Tesla, announced it would no longer accept Bitcoin for payments. Musk also reportedly commented on Bitcoin mining's "insane" energy usage, prompting a widespread crypto sell-off.
Crypto is bigger than Elon Musk, but the guy clearly has the power to move markets. Some say Elon is just manipulating the market, but he can get away with it without worry about the SEC as long as it's crypto and not registered securities.
Musk has since tweeted that Tesla hasn't sold any of its Bitcoin.
