It's taken a while, but OpenAI has finally released its much-trailed text-to-video generator

OpenAI has finally released its next-gen video generator model, Sora, Digital Trends reported. The Sam Altman-led AI company has been showing off Sora’s remarkable capabilities since unveiling the text-to-video tool earlier this year. Available now via Sora.com for ChatGPT users in the U.S. and other countries, ChatGPT Pro subscribers can generate 20-second videos in 1080p resolution from either text prompts or reference images. Editing and extending existing video clips is also possible. ChatGPT Plus subscribers can use Sora, too, but there are some limitations. Videos created by Sora will have visible watermarks and C2PA metadata to show that they've been made using AI ... |

Digital Trends’ Nadeem Sarwar has spent seven weeks using the 8.3-inch iPad mini 2024, giving him plenty of time to discover the good and the bad regarding Apple’s smallest tablet. Highlights include its portability, a more pleasing aspect ratio compared to other iPads, and a decent battery life. And while Nadeem praises the “sharp and colorful” display, he found that the screen “is still not bright enough for comfortably consuming content under sunlight.” The lack of a headphone jack is also a disappointment. Overall, though, the iPad mini 2024, which starts at $499, is considered a “fantastic” tablet and “the only small tablet out there worth its salt.” Check out the full review for more details ... |

LG has hired will.i.am to relaunch its Xboom-branded audio products |

LG has tapped will.i.am to be its new “Experiential Architect,” Digital Trends reported. First, the Black Eyed Peas frontman will launch a rebranded set of Xboom products at the huge CES tech event next month. The new lineup will include wireless earbuds and Bluetooth speakers under the name, “xboom by will.i.am.” They’ll offer two “modes” for listening, one that’s “stimulating, with powerful bass,” and the other “soothing, with harmonious tones.” The lineup will also integrate the musician’s AI-powered interactive audio experience — Raidio.fyi — that lets you ask an AI music curator for real-time playlists on the fly, or music-related questions like, “Can you tell me about the artist that’s playing” ... |

Sony Pictures first teaser (above) for the Danny Boyle-directed 28 Years Later is a cryptic affair, and already has fans of the franchise speculating as to what it’s about. As per The Hollywood Reporter: “The footage is largely black with Morse code audio and flashes of an island connected by a long land bridge, as well as statue-like figures (crucified zombies?), red skulls and red contamination symbols.” Fans have suggested that the island could be Lindisfarne in the far north of England, which seems like a sensible place to seek refuge in the event of a zombie apocalypse. The third installment of the highly anticipated 28 Years Later lands in theaters on June 20, 2025 ... |
