Reminder for "The Big Payback" May 2 One by one they came, each man and each woman seeking shelter during the coldest nights of the year. Some were addicted, some had no resources and others were sick, but each one had a different story. Night after night, during our Coldest Nights season, we were able to provide food and a warm, clean shelter for those who sought help. While working with our clients, I was able to get to know many by name and become familiar with their needs. Jobs were high on the list as well as a permanent place to stay. Many desired Bibles, and as a result of receiving these, spiritual questions arose, which led to opportunities to tell them of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ. Coldest Nights shelters are now closed for this season. All the numbers are not tallied, but I do know we were open for 54 nights this season. What a blessing it was to reach out and help others! Hardly a night went by without someone saying, “Thank you for all you guys do for us.” That phrase “you guys” includes all of you who pray, give or shared some part in helping provide shelter. YOU are the reason we accomplish as much as we do. As hard as it is to believe, only four weeks ago the temperatures were still dropping to 32 degrees and below! We are now seeing highs in the 80’s, and soon the temperatures will reach the 90’s. These temperatures are just 5 degrees from activating our Hot Patrols, which help our homeless who are vulnerable to heat and heat-related issues. If you have any interest in helping with Hot Patrols or volunteering, please call us at (615) 933-8263. In our last newsletter, I mentioned two events planned for May 2, 2019. One was the Annual Big Payback. If you would like to participate, please visit our website to contribute. These much-needed funds will go toward our winter and summer programs. The second event is the Appreciation Banquet. We have had to postpone this event until June, and I will be sending out more information regarding that event and new date soon. Please continue to pray for us to gain the funds to purchase property for MRM. It is our #1 prayer request, and we need your prayers! We know that God will have to work as only He can. Thank you, |
