CBS Sports Fantasy Baseball Today

A year ago, Trevor Bauer was at the top of the Fantasy baseball world. I, for one, had him ranked as the No. 4 starter in all formats. I was all in on his breakout 2018.

And he made me look like a fool.

That's the risk in buying into those one-year wonders. Sometimes, it makes you look brilliant -- Corey Kluber's mid-career breakout led to a half-decade of ace-level production. But oftentimes, as with Bauer and Jesus Aguilar in 2019, it can prove disastrous. We're looking both ahead and behind us today in diving into one-season wonders. First up, I break down six of the biggest candidates from last year's breakout crop, to figure out if you should buy them. Then, the Fantasy Baseball Today team broke down the biggest one-season wonders of the last 20 years, including Oliver Perez, Esteban Loaiza, and Chase Headley, among other memorable fake outs.

Plus, Scott White has another of his weekly mailbags, this time focusing on the ramifications of a delayed season and Pete Alonso's long-term appeal.
