Nursing home protections: The management firms that run Louisiana nursing homes could face fewer penalties in court for lapses in patient care including negligence and inadequate staffing under a bill before state lawmakers. Insurance crisis: Gov. Jeff Landry enjoys high approval ratings on most issues covered in a statewide poll conducted for the Times-Picayune | The Advocate. But amid a property insurance crisis that has caused dramatic rate hikes, Louisiana voters are broadly unhappy with Landry's handling of the issue. Sam Karlin has more from the poll.
Saffron update: It's a wonder that the story of an impounded opossum is still on anyone’s radar. But Saffron, who was seized from his home with William Voiles during the last days of Carnival, has staying power. Voiles, facing a charge of owning a wild animal, entered his plea in court on Monday. Doug MacCash has the story.
