NATIONAL: Film Independent has partnered with virtual venue Looped to power and produce the first ever virtual Film Independent Spirit Awards on April 22. Virtual attendees will watch the ceremony from a digital re-creation of the event's signature beach tent, which will include a curated cocktail hour and a karaoke-filled after-party. The 36th annual Spirit Awards will be hosted by Saturday Night Live’s Melissa Villaseor and broadcast live exclusively on IFC
and AMC+.

CHICAGO: Children’s Place Association will hold its 30th anniversary gala, Once Upon a Time… With Love From Chicago, on April 29. The free virtual event, which raises money for Chicago’s most vulnerable children, will feature Robin Robinson as emcee and Alex Kotlowitz and Maria Woltjen as keynote speakers.

NEW YORK: INVNT GROUP has a number of new New York-based hires, including Adam Milner as its new director of business development, Robert Terlizzi as creative director of HEVĒ, and Heather M. Foley and Lauren Bowman as producers. Internationally, Ema Wakeford is a new executive producer in Sydney, Australia, while Sarah Bailey is now creative director in Singapore.

ORLANDO/CENTRAL FLORIDA: Greg Durrer is the new hotel manager at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes. He most recently worked as general manager for the W Aspen. 

PALM SPRINGS, CALIF: The next edition of the Palm Springs International Film Festival will take place Jan. 6-17, 2022, at the Palm Springs Convention Center. As of now, Palm Springs ShortFest is planned for this summer, June 22-28.
