The boys of spring, not summer

Any LSU baseball season that ends as early as this 2024 season did doesn't really feel like an LSU baseball season at all.

After decades of success, it seems like LSU is supposed to be playing in the NCAA super regionals and beyond in the College World Series. When that doesn't happen, it feels ... strange.

I humbly submit a column that examines where these Tigers were lacking compared to their predecessors, and what LSU needs to be a national contender again come 2025.

To get there, the Tigers will likely have to hit the transfer portal. A couple of players from this year's team have already done that, as Koki Riley tells us.

Now to women's basketball, where a former Tiger who just went through the transfer portal is now on her way to Paris. Former LSU guard Hailey Van Lith, now at TCU, was named Wednesdday to the U.S. Olympic 3x3 women's basketball team. Only four players made the team, so it's a heck of an achivement for HVL, who helped the U.S. women win the 3x3 World Cup last summer in Vienna, Austria.

By the way, the 3x3 basketball venue will be outdoors in the Place de la Concorde, along with other urban sports like breaking, BMX basketball and skateboarding. That's where Marie Antoinette was beheaded.

See, reading this newsletter is educational.

While HVL has gone, the Tigers are trying to bring in another big player. The nation's top-ranked recruit for the 2024-25 recruiting cycle was in town Wednesday. Reed Darcey tells you more about her.

Hey, we gave you Marie Antoinette, but we can't give you everything.

Finally, Wednesday was a good day for the LSU men's track and field team at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon. Check out which Tiger individuals and relay teams advanced to NCAA finals.

Au revoir pour le moment,
