| European NGOs' last lifeline |
| | Green NGOs are in survival mode.
After the Commission tried to clamp down on €15.5 million in NGO funding last year, they have been fighting for unfettered access to EU funds.
The Parliament's right and left have quickly jumped into the fray.
EPP Monika Hohlmeier has long accused 'green' departments of the European Commission of lobbying MEPs on their behalf. An accusation that’s as old as it is controversial.
Now, the conservatives are doubling down, seeking more transparency and tighter rules on what NGOs can actually spend EU cash on.
But NGOs aren’t staying quiet.
