Privacy’s Last Safe Haven
Gold and silver may be privacy’s last safe haven because precious metals can't be printed into oblivion or arbitrarily cancelled. Gold and silver are not just tangible and rare, they are fair and honest. Throughout history, kings and governments have debased and devalued currencies in pursuit of wars and personal grift.
Gold is God’s money. It is mentioned many times in the Bible as a store of wealth and a symbol of value and beauty. God also admonishes us repeatedly in the Bible to use honest weights and measures.
In Deuteronomy 25:15-16
You must maintain accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you. For everyone who behaves dishonestly in regard to these things is detestable to the LORD your God.
In Proverbs 11:1
Dishonest scales are an abomination to the LORD, but an accurate weight is His delight.
These verses deal with consistency and transacting honestly with each other.
Every time a king has clipped their coins, every time a treasury sneaks more tin into their silver content, and every time a government creates money and indebtedness out of thin air, they are testing God’s patience.
He had very good and practical reasons for telling His people to use honest weights and measures and we are living through the consequences right now:
INFLATION…. and loss of trust in the monetary system.
