View in browser | hyperallergic.comMay 12, 2020Letter from the editor: If you're reading this, then I'm going to assume you know the value of Hyperallergic and all the reporting we do. Articles like yesterday's op-ed by art historian Michelle C. Wang help us understand how art has been used to reinforce negative stereotypes by a government that should know better, while others, like this article by Rachel Heindenry, describes how artists, who are also parents, are handling childcare needs as they shelter-in-place. We hope that these and many of the other articles we publish daily inform the way our community lives and functions during times of crisis. If you haven't yet, please take a moment to become a member and help to ensure that Hyperallergic can continue to report fearlessly about the art community and its challenges. It only takes a minute and means so much to our future as a publication. We're now less than 600 members away from our launch goal of 3,000 members. Will you join us? Let me take this time to also share with you that one of our favorite resources, Listings Project, has begun publishing a new weekly COVID-19 newsletter, “In It Together,” to complement their indispensable weekly real estate listings email. They’ll be sharing resources and offerings from within the arts community as well as guidance, tips, and advice for navigating this challenging moment. For those not already familiar, Listings Project is a free weekly compilation of vetted real estate listings and other opportunities geared towards artists and creatives. Check it out!
