Subscribe Dec 11, 2020 Good evening Finally it's Friday and what a mixed week it's been in coronavirus-land, with highs and lows from football bans to vaccines. It’s starting to feel like a complicated and particularly deadly game of ‘whack-a-mole’. Every time we feel we may be getting a grip on this pandemic, restrictions are reduced, then bam - another mole in the form of rising infections sticks his head out. Here in Lancashire right now coronavirus levels are reducing on the whole. With a rethink of our Tier three status on the cards next week, many are hopeful of a pre-Christmas gift in the form of re-opening restaurants and pubs. It’s certainly possible and with an economic and livelihood-hat on, essential. But with Covid vaccinations for the vast majority of the population some way off and mass Christmas-shopping underway, it feels like the downturn in cases may just be temporary. As a case in point, the South-East - largely Tier 2 - is once more seeing rising cases particularly in young people. It’s an almost impossible task to keep this virus under control and keep everyone happy - let alone prop up the economy and ensure food is on people’s tables. All answers on a postcard please ...
