Comedian and broadcaster Veronica Milsom loves shopping, but not long ago, she started to get a bad feeling about it. Every time a package arrived at her door or she walked out of a shop, bags brimming, her usual shopping high was replaced by a sneaking suspicion that she was contributing to a major problem. After all, the average Australian buys 56 items of clothing a year. And we wear each item around seven times before throwing it out. So Veronica decided to pull on a thread — and what she unravelled challenged everything she thought she knew about the fashion industry. Tune in to the new ABC podcast, Threads, via the ABC listen app or wherever you get your podcasts. Plus, do you ever wish you could eat healthier, do more exercise, drink less? The ABC has just launched Your Move, a series of stories and interactive articles exploring Australia's collective and individual fitness. Take our health quiz to find out whether one small lifestyle change could improve your life. Then, tune in to RN programs to hear a diverse range of stories about health and wellness, from understanding an ADHD diagnosis to exploring the life of a pioneering surgeon. You can also check out the specially curated iview series, featuring One Plus One, How To Live Younger, Ask the Doctor and Old People's Home For Teenagers. | After-school hobby or devil worship? |
|
Growing up in Warragal, Victoria, in the 1980s, David Waldron's after-school hobby — playing Dungeons and Dragons — was raising eyebrows. Some locals feared that instead of bonding over a fantasy board game, the children were learning to do real magic — and getting dangerously close to the devil. |
