The cost of freedom, now found at the pumps

with Kelly P. Kissel | Metro editor

Here are the top headlines from Baton Rouge today:

The cost of freedom, now found at the pumps

President Joe Biden today banned U.S. imports of Russian oil, acknowledging the move will likely cause an additional spike in gasoline prices. The president said in remarks this morning that the United States cannot help fund Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Louisiana experts say producers had already calculated Biden's move into oil pricing, even before the president announced what he will do. The result, they say, is that Louisiana shouldn't see a big impact from the move.

Another senseless shooting

This time, it's a McKinley High School senior shot dead in the middle of the night during the weekend. Mjireyae Addison played tuba, and played baseball, and wanted to attend Prairie View A&M and study mechanic engineering.
