| | Series returns tonight! Watch and vote! | If you were asked to name a novel that changed your life, which would you choose? PBS and KQED have been asking that question of book lovers throughout the summer. So far over 2 million votes have been cast for America's favorite novel, and soon we'll know the winner. The PBS series The Great American Read returns tonight at 8pm on KQED 9 for the first of seven new weekly episodes leading up to the grand finale and the big reveal of America's Best-Loved Novel on Tuesday, October 23. Tune in Tuesday nights as host Meredith Vieira explores a list of 100 of the most-iconic novels, including John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath, Alice Walker's The Color Purple, Jack London's The Call of the Wild, S.E. Hinton's The Outsiders and Toni Morrison's Beloved, to name just a few. Guest authors, including Gillian Flynn, George R.R. Martin and Armistead Maupin, will discuss their literary inspirations as part of thematic episodes that touch on love, spirituality and heroism, among other topics.
