COASTAL COURT: With billions of dollars at stake, Louisiana parishes have been trying for as long as 11 years to litigate 43 coastal damage lawsuits in state court, while oil and gas companies have tried to have the suits heard in federal court. On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court signaled where it thinks the disputes belong.
PASTOR TO PRISON: For stealing almost $900,000 from his flock and a charter school, Rev. Charles Southall III of First Emanual Baptist Church was sentenced Tuesday not only to repay the money but to serve five years in prison.
