After 20 months of construction, the Michigan Union reopened to the public Monday with a grand opening ceremony featuring E. Royster Harper, outgoing vice president of Student Life, and Amy White, incoming vice president of Student Life and director of the Union.

The newly renovated Union has several new features including updated study spaces and a new atrium, however restaurants such as MI Burger and Taco Bell have yet to open.

Students struggle to find mental health support on campus

Daily staff reporters Jasmin Lee and Calder Lewis took a deep dive into the University’s mental health services and efforts in this three-part series.

The first installment discusses student complaints to on-campus mental health resources. In the second article, students examine alternate resources, such as the student-led Wolverine Support Network. The final installment compares U-M resources to that of other comparable Universities.

Commission on Carbon Neutrality overlooked student adviser input

A Daily investigation found that members of the Student Advisory Panel of the President’s Commission on Carbon Neutrality (PCCN) feel the commission has overlooked student recommendations since its creation in February 2019.

Daily staff reporter Arjun Thakkar talked to three members of the Student Advisory Panel of the PCCN who alleged that the commission gave them a short period of time to provide comments and that most of their suggestions were ignored.

'I think she was with me tonight': Granowicz nets two goals on late mother's birthday

Michigan Men’s Hockey rallied back from a 2-0 deficit to beat Penn State 5-4 in 2OT this Saturday, but freshman forward Nick Granowicz’s two goals offered added significance to the comeback victory.

Saturday would have been Granowicz’s mother’s 53rd birthday. Despite a slow start to the season, Granowicz has used adversity to motivate him, leading to his first goal last season and his two-goal performance on Saturday.

The top 25 albums of 2019

The Daily’s music writers offered their top 25 albums of 2019 this week, highlighting their favorite projects they’ve reviewed this year.

The list featured Harry Styles’ "Fine Line", Billie Eilish's "When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?" and more, with Tyler the Creator’s "Igor" topping the list as 2019’s best album.
