DeerLake Weekly Letter, Veteran's Day and Life's Gifts

Politicians seldom do what is best for "We The People". But our Veterans have always done THEIR best. I believe Thomas Jefferson said, some blood must be spilt from time to time to keep this country strong. Well he didn't say it exactly like that, but I understand what he was saying. He meant that if we show we were strong, with the will to fight, then no one would dare attack us. As much as I don't like war, I do like feeling that no country dare attack the United States of America. Thanks Veterans, thanks for doing your part to keep us all safe.

Veterans Day is a time to thank those who have served their country through military service.

Here's a look at some of the best thoughts on Veterans Day:

"I think there is one higher office than president and I would call that patriot." — Gary Hart

"As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." — John F. Kennedy

"On this Veterans Day, let us remember the service of our veterans, and let us renew our national promise to fulfill our sacred obligations to our veterans and their families who have sacrificed so much so that we can live free." — Dan Lipinski

"Honoring the sacrifices many have made for our country in the name of freedom and democracy is the very foundation of Veterans Day." — Charles B. Rangel

"The soldier above all others prays for peace, for it is the soldier who must suffer and bear the deepest wounds and scars of war." — Douglas MacArthur

It's about how we treat our veterans every single day of the year. It's about making sure they have the care they need and the benefits that they've earned when they come home. It's about serving all of you as well as you've served the United States of America. Freedom is never free. — Obama

How about that vote? We did vote, and we're proud that we did. We are also really glad that it's over and we don't have to listen to them any longer this year.
They now need to get back to the business of running the country.

The season of thanks and giving is upon us, we are thankful for the blessings in our lives and it always feels good to give a little help to others when you can.
Enjoy your weekend and as the cold weather sets in around the country, take time to help out a neighbor in need. We plan on going down to the foodbank this year and lending a couple of helping hands. They are always in need of help, getting all the holiday boxes loaded up for those in need during the holidays.

Letters addressed to (Any Soldier). (with video)
Georgia, was trying to raise her two sons when the Gulf War broke out. She heard about soldiers in the service who had no family and needed pen pals.

Veterans are men and women who served in the military
(U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard) in times of war or peace.

Have you hugged a Veteran today ?

A field overflowing with wildflowers...
The gift of friendship that is ours...
Each beautiful moment of treasured time...

Way up north
Where the cold winds blow
Where the lakes are made of ice
And the mountain's made of snow

Often my whimsical thoughts flee
To the time-capsule inside of me,
Within is the memories I treasure
That spice my days with pleasure.
