The Eagle Eye #84 – Bundesliga Edition 01.04.2016

Dear Eagles around the globe,

on 18 February 2016, we sent you the last edition of our little newsletter – time for us to bring you up to date on what has been going on in and around Frankfurt.

We ended our last newsletter with the words, “Let’s keep our fingers crossed that Eintracht will be able to climb up a few spots in the table.” Unfortunately, this has not happened. Currently, the Eagles are ranked 17th in the standings.

After two goalless home draws versus Hamburg and Schalke, Eintracht went down to Hertha BSC. After another home draw against promoted team FC Ingolstadt (1-1), Eintracht Frankfurt and manager Armin Veh parted ways. Former Croatian international Niko Kovac was appointed as new head coach, with his brother Robert assisting him.

Since then, the Eagles have lost their away game to Borussia Mönchengladbach, but won their home match against bottom-ranked club Hannover 96.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 02 April 2016, kick-off at 15.30 CET), the Eagles face Bundesliga champions FC Bayern München in Munich’s “Allianz Arena”. 5,396 Eintracht supporters will accompany their team to Bavaria and hope for some unexpected points. So do we!

The good news is that several other Bundesliga teams are still within the Eagles’ reach. For example, Darmstadt 98, who are ranked 13th in the table, only have collected one more point than Eintracht. (You can study the Bundesliga table here.) Including the match against FC Bayern, seven games still have to be played until the season is over. We are looking forward to what promises to be an exciting relegation battle.

As always, keep on following Frankfurt – over land and sea!

Sincerely yours,
The English Eintracht Internet Team
