Dear Reader,

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Britain’s pandemic response, one thing the Government has certainly got right is vaccine procurement. The same cannot be said for our Continental neighbours. With EU officials now demanding that AstraZeneca provides doses to Europe from those designated for the UK and ordering a raid on the Belgian production site, James Crisp explains how the bloc got itself into such a mess and why its argument lacks force.

With quarantine hotels now in place for British citizens and residents who return from a number of holiday destinations and travel corridors all shut down, it may seem that the summer getaway is doomed. Greg Dickinson, however, makes the optimist's case as to why some destinations may yet open up in time.

Beautiful to look at, of course, but stained glass windows also tell a story for the faithful. Except, that is, at Canterbury Cathedral where some of the windows appeared to make no sense. Until now. Craig Simpson explains how a rogue leper’s sores helped solve the mystery of the jumbled glass.
