It's Tuesday and for all those parents out there, we're well into the swing of the school term - so we can bring you all the latest on education at your fingertips.

 

We've got an education special from Calum Ross in today's bumper edition of your Scotsman daily newsletter. Firstly, nearly one in ten school pupils in Scotland are now taking part in instrumental music lessons in a significant feat. But that has meant hundreds of youngsters on waiting lists in some areas as councils are unable to meet demand.
