I like all the rain and snow we’ve gotten over the last few weeks, particularly because it's perfect soup weather. I ate dinner with my parents last night, and we had homemade tortilla soup — it was delicious. 🍲
Tell me: Are you a soup person, and if so, what is your favorite soup?
Nobody knew what to expect, but Donovan Mitchell’s return to Utah was overwhelmingly positive
The moment finally came: the Jazz’s long-awaited game against the Cleveland Cavaliers and, consequently, former teammate Donovan Mitchell.
In a recent interview with Mitchell, he spoke about how draining it had been being a Black man in Utah — especially when it came to his efforts to progress conversations about race. Back then, self-proclaimed Jazz fans would leave hateful comments in his Twitter mentions that would leave him feeling exasperated. The weight of all of these experiences loomed over Tuesday’s game.
A tribute video for Mitchell played just before starting lineups were announced, and the fan response was overwhelmingly positive. If there were any boos or jeers, they were drowned out by everyone who was there to recognize the five years of incredible dedication, skill and leadership that Mitchell gave to the Jazz and to Utah.
Ready or not, the 2023 Utah legislative session is upon us. Anyone who has spent time on the hill knows the cadence. In the beginning, there are musical numbers, prayers and special visits from federal lawmakers. But as time marches on, we’ll see a flurry of progressively more challenging bills.
Expect to hear about these:
Rep. Angela Romero is sponsoring HB18, Online Dating Safety Amendments.
Rep. Rosemary Lesser, a retired OB/GYN, is focused on Medicaid coverage with HB85, Pregnancy Medicaid Coverage Amendments, and HB84, Postpartum Medicaid Coverage Amendments.
Rep. Karen Kwan is running HB149, which would allow all public school students to wear religiously or culturally significant items at graduation.
