But every December holiday is different for people with cancer. At a time of year when families want to be together, patients may be in hospitals receiving treatment away from their loved ones or getting looked after at home by caregivers. In this ‘season of joy’ cancer can put a shadow on everything. It can be an extremely emotional time. Knowing this, I’m asking for your help to bring a touch of joy to our cancer patients this Christmas by clicking here to donate towards a care pack. Your donation will give children with cancer the basic essential items that their families may not be able to afford. Last year we handed out special care packs for children, which included paints and colouring in books. If items in the care packs like a facecloth and soap, toothbrush and toothpaste, a notepad and pen seem very ‘ordinary’ to you, it’s because many patients are unable to work whilst on treatment, and these basics have become luxury items. Also, the parents of many of the children undergoing treatment simply cannot afford any basics, and certainly no luxuries for their children. You can imagine that when basic items for maintaining simple hygiene are missing, the need is more than great. Even items on our ‘Extra’s’ list are fairly ordinary – like socks, a soft beanie or scarf, mouth wash, Germolene and a snack or two – but would be so appreciated. And colouring in books are always a favourite with children. Please will you help by clicking here to donate now. In return, may you experience some of the joy that you’ll be giving. With warmest festive wishes to you and your loved ones.
