On June 21 1991, The Canberra Times reported that the ACT was doing better financially than the rest of Australia. This was based on an ACT Treasury report that had been released. The ACT was performing better in terms of employment growth, the unemployment rate, earnings, retail, tourism and inflation than the rest of the country.
