Support our growthIt’s because of the support of readers like you, reader, that we’re able to continue to grow our staff and deliver more coverage of news that matters with a Jewish perspective.
Please meet our newest staff! Lauren Markoe News Editor
An award-winning journalist, we are excited to welcome Lauren Markoe to the Forward to help drive news coverage. Lauren is the former managing editor and longtime "Jews and Judaism" beat reporter for the Religion News Service and has spent the last two years at WAMU, the public-radio station in Washington, DC, producing the Kojo Nnamdi Show and "Interfaith Voices," and, when the pandemic struck, inventing a weekly "Kojo for Kids" show. News Director
Benyamin is an entrepreneurial and energetic writer, editor and innovator, who joins the Forward to maximize the reach and engagement around our journalism. Benyamin has spent most of his career in Jewish journalism and is joining us after serving as editorial director of Narrative Content Group, which runs From the Grapevine, a lifestyle news website about Israel whose audience he helped grow to 20 million users a year. Social Media Editor
Malkah may have been born to work at the Forward, and she certainly was born for the social-media moment. Malkah comes to us from American Jewish World Service, and previously worked at Lincoln Center. She has a PhD in English literature from Fordham University, which was certainly not required for the job but will definitely come in handy in building the next great chapter for the Forward's Book Club. Senior Political Reporter
Many Forward readers already know Jacob from his byline; He's the one constantly breaking buzzy stories in Jewish Insider and on Twitter, the guy whose brave reporting about the flouting of social-distancing rules in Brooklyn's Haredi communities got him beat up this fall. He's a reporter with ubiquitous sources, a sharp eye and keen ear, a huge heart and an unrelenting appetite for finding out what's going on and explaining it to the public. Staff Reporter
Arno joins the Forward after two years covering politics for the Casper Star-Tribune, Wyoming's only statewide newspaper, and experience writing for Washington Jewish Week, JTA and the Times of Israel. His passion for, and track record in, covering both politics and Jewish institutions, along with his doggedness, professionalism and conversational writing style, is just what the Forward needs right now. Jenn Martin Executive Assistant
Jenn comes to the Forward with more than thirteen years of experience with the YMCA of Greater New York, where she worked as the Administrative Coordinator at the McBurney YMCA in Chelsea. Following the huge impact Covid-19 had on in-person youth, family, and fitness services, she decided it was time to embark on a new adventure with another nonprofit. The Forward’s mission hit close to home for Jenn, as she remembers the Forward as a staple in her grandparents’ Lower East Side apartment. DONATE NOWThe Forward 125 Maiden Ln. New York, NY 10038 |
