After a very strange Mardi Gras, we're ready to get back to what passes for normal these days. And that means Lent, with its traditional fish fries. Starting this week, than 40 restaurants around the area will take part in a weekly campaign called Fish Fry Fridays. It’s a bid to drive business to restaurants and to raise money for hospitality workers impacted by the pandemic. Church fish fries are also back. Here's a list, gathered by the experts at the Archdiocese of New Orleans newspaper, The Clarion Herald. Coffee shops hold a special place in the food and drink universe: not restaurants, not bars, and essential to many routines. Though offices are closed and gatherings limited, New Orleans people still go to great lengths to maintain their coffee rituals. A favorite beerpub is back in business. Crescent City Brewhouse was the city’s first, launched in 1991. After being shut down since March, the brewpub returns just in time for its 30th anniversary. Ian McNulty takes a look.
