STUDENTS QUARANTINE: As kids go back to school in the middle of a COVID-19 surge, the reality of infections and infection-related quarantines has once again become a hassle for teachers, students and parents. We've got the latest here. 


INAUGURATION DAY: Mayor LaToya Cantrell and the members of the City Council were sworn into office for new terms Monday, with a message that the best is yet to come.


STEPPING DOWN: Metairie businessman Rafael Rafidi's interim appointment to the Jefferson Parish School Board lasted only a few days before profane and incendiary social media posts forced his resignation. Some of the posts by Rafidi, who says he was at the rally outside the U.S. capitol but did not take part in the Jan. 6 insurrection, were known before his appointment, but they prompted a backlash that caused the board to reconsider its 6-1 vote to approve him.
