A free science and arts festival — hosted by iconic London institutions

South Kensington's Exhibition Road is one of our happy places. It's home to three of London's biggest (and most spectacular) museums, plus many other marvellous institutions that cater to curious minds. And, this June, it's getting even more exciting, with a weekend of fascinating (and free!) events for all ages.

The Great Exhibition Road Festival takes place 17-18 June on and around Exhibition Road. It's comprised of dozens of workshops, talks, performances, and installations run by the iconic academic and cultural organisations that call the area home. Think Imperial College London, the Natural History Museum, Royal College of Music, Science Museum, the V&A, Royal Albert Hall, and many more!

Below we've selected just a few highlights to look out for. But there's lots more to explore over on the Great Exhibition Road Festival website — have a gander and register now to get the latest updates and be the first to know when free tickets are released for popular events.

Plan Your Visit
Get Creative With Science

Experiment with controlled corrosion, immerse yourself in sonification art, and discover hangover-free cocktails at the Great Exhibition Road Festival's hands-on 18+ Creative Science Zone. You'll find it in the Grade II listed home of the Royal Geographical Society. On Saturday 17 June, the fun continues into the evening with a Late featuring a pub quiz, live DJs and a bar.

Get Your Groove On

Throughout the weekend, the festival's main stage on Exhibition Road will welcome an eclectic range of musicians, including students from the Royal College of Music Brass Faculty and south London disco band, All Day Breakfast Cafe. And speaking of disco, you can partake in a very special silent one at Imperial College London, inspired by how atoms absorb and reflect light.

Chew On This

The Great Exhibition Road Festival's first ever demo kitchen is popping up inside Imperial College London's Sir Alexander Fleming Building. At Future Food Live, you'll discover innovative, climate-friendly culinary creations and techniques, and sample dishes by chefs. Some are more unusual than others — anyone for crickets?

Travel Through Time

Learn about the ancient art of lace-craft and make your own needlework memento. Find out how science fiction influences how we see the future of robotics. Explore the history of mind-altering drugs. And get to know an artist who went on a journey into the past, rediscovering and reimagining Black portrait subjects in Western art.
