Dear Reader,

It’s taken 55 years and rather a lot more downs than ups, but England are at last in a major football final after they beat Denmark last night at the Euros. It was a wonderful evening and you can find all our marvellous coverage here. This is one of the most likeable England teams in memory, but it’s not just the eyes of our own country watching the tournament. Here we’ve rounded up all of the best reactions, from home and abroad, to England’s night of triumph.

Britain has, by and large, avoided the politicisation of face masks, mostly because they have been a legal requirement. Soon, however, that law will disappear and wearing a mask will be a matter of “personal responsibility”. Does that presage another chapter in the endless culture wars? Harry de Quetteville investigates.

It has been announced today that rules on travel will also be relaxed, including the end of quarantine for fully vaccinated British residents after visiting amber list countries. You can follow that story on our live blog.

Road trip holidays are usually associated with large, sprawling nations like the United States, with thousands of miles of tarmac to churn through. Yet, the UK may be a better driving destination than you might think. David Williams has put together a list of the 10 best British road trips that will soon have you staring longingly at the driveway.

Supporting loved grandchildren as they approach adulthood is one of the great pleasures of being a grandparent. But it’s not always that simple. In the latest edition of Moral Money, Jessica Beard hears from a grandmother who is not convinced that all of her grandchildren are worthy of the same financial generosity. Does that make her a bad grandparent? Read Jessica’s response and leave your own here.
