INDUSTRY NEWS

NATIONAL: Anthony "Tony" Capuano is the new CEO of Marriott International, following the unexpected death of president and CEO Arne Sorenson on Feb. 15. Capuano—who joined the company in 1995 and was formerly the group president of global development, design and operations services—most recently oversaw Marriott’s Commitment to Clean initiative. The board of directors also announced that Stephanie Linnartz has been appointed president, effective immediately.

BOSTON: The Boston Wine Festival will take place March 5-27. The festival, billed as the nation's longest-running wine and food pairing series, features intimate winemaker-hosted dinners, seminars and receptions, and it takes place at the Boston Harbor Hotel. Dinners will be sold by table for groups of two, four or six to allow for a socially distant experience.

HOUSTON: The first-ever Houston Press Tacolandia Taco Stop will take place March 2. Ticket holders can go to Silver Street Studios to receive a beverage kit featuring a variety of alcohol and mixes as well as taco samples from 11 on-site restaurants.

MIAMI/SOUTH FLORIDA: The Hyatt Centric Las Olas Fort Lauderdale has turned one of its guest rooms into an intimate speakeasy for guests to enjoy. The experience, known by its room number—901—will allow for parties of up to six people to enjoy an intimate setting with a bartender-in-residence program, featuring bartenders from around the country.

South Florida will soon be home to one of only 15 kosher hotels in the world, as construction has begun on the Wyndham Dolce Kosher House Hotel. The six-story, 100-room resort, located directly across from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, will feature a kosher rooftop restaurant run by an Israeli chef, plus a Shabbat elevator, manual room keys and more.
