When thinking of who The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is, many of us think of some athlete or person who has the most records, scored the most points, or holds the most titles. For example, Tom Brady, former Super Bowl champion for the New England Patriots, has been deemed countlessly as the GOAT of NFL quarterbacks. The same goes for Olympian Simone Biles for her immaculate talent as a gymnast.
While these well-known athletes may be the very best in their sport and vocation, as fans, it’s important to have that same admiration and resemblance for Jesus Christ, our King. For believers, we should know that Jesus is the GOAT over everything and everyone else. We see records of this scattered endlessly throughout the New Testament. To name a few, He successfully healed the sick, fed the 5,000, walked on water, and ultimately died and rose again for us and our sins.
It is Jesus that has saved us, and will continue to save us, from our sins and the tragedies of this world. With Jesus, we can experience this win and victory that trumps any game or accomplishment we’ll ever experience here on Earth.
Today, remember that Jesus is the GOAT who we should admire and attempt to resemble. As Christians, we should attempt to live up to the standard that He set for us. That is, loving others, being a light of encouragement (especially in dark times), and spreading the truth of His Word. When we set our standard as a Christian first, we are setting ourselves up for victory in the end.
