So much half-term fun for your little ones at Southbank Centre

Monsters, myth-hunting, live music and mime — it's all happening at the Southbank Centre later this month! This half-term, London's iconic riverside arts complex is serving up a superb selection of activities for kids and their grownups.

There's theatre, including the hit stage adaptation of children's classic The Gruffalo, a family-friendly ceilidh, and a self-led activity trail for you to get stuck into. And a couple of events are completely free!

Southbank Centre's half-term shenanigans run 31 May to 4 June. We've got all the deets on the week's activities below, but you can find even more family fun and plan your visit via the big blue button.

Join mouse on a daring woodland adventure in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. This much-loved show runs 1-4 June and is suitable for children aged three and over — we at Londonist called it "the perfect intro to theatre for kids" back in 2015, and gave it ★★★★

Musical Mime Performance

Celebrating one another's differences is the message of Yellow, a whimsical mime performance by Anastasiia Liubchenko featuring original music. In the yellow city, everyone is happy until a new colour appears and stirs everything up. But then, something unexpected happens... Yellow runs 1-2 June and is suitable for kids aged 2-6.

Shape-Shifting Sensory Fun

Meet toooB: a friendly, caterpillar-like shape-shifter here to gently introduce babies and toddlers to theatre and dance. This playful, wordless show invites your littlest ones to get involved in the performance and runs 31 May to 4 June.

Loch Ness Ceilidh

The Myth Hunter needs your help! Travel to Loch Ness to meet its elusive monster, while playing interactive games and enjoying live music courtesy of Ceilidh Tree. Presented by Weird Folk, The Marvellous Myth Hunter Ceilidh is a free al fresco event taking place on 2 June that's suitable for ages 5+.

Self-Led Alphabetic Adventure

Here's some more free fun for you! From 31 May to 4 June you're invited to embark on an international adventure as you learn all about the world's languages. The self-guided One & Everything Family Trail introduces you to mysterious scripts, secret alphabets, and hidden stories, all inspired by Sam Winston's book One and Everything.
