In wealthy places, women’s happiness is typically higher than men’s, even for women with less privileged jobs and lifestyles. But this does not hold true in countries with compromised gender rights. In a new essay for the 19A Brookings Gender Equality Series, Carol Graham discusses some of the important factors that contribute to women’s well-being and sheds light on the happiness gap between men and women.
