Hello, John!
One of my favorite details about the life of Blessed Solanus Casey is that, before he attended seminary, he was a streetcar operator.
There's something compelling about stepping out of a downtown office building, seeing a streetcar gliding past, and thinking about a man who's one step from sainthood as the driver. It makes God feel very close by.
That, I think, is one part of what makes Solanus Casey a fascinating figure. His example shows us that God is everywhere—in a church, in nature, in the city, in you, in me, and on the streetcar.
