Portfolios house evidence of the increased knowledge, experiences, skills, and abilities nurses achieve throughout their careers.
Professional portfolios help nurses showcase achievements. Welcome to this week's eNewsletter. I thank you for putting down, what I'm sure is, an excellent hand of cards to join us. By now you've likely heard the buzz about Washington State Senator Maureen Walsh's comments implying nurses spend a large portion of their days playing cards. Clearly, Walsh does not understand what nurses do. Unfortunately, she is not alone. So, I challenge all the nurses reading this newsletter to use Walsh's public faux pas as an opportunity to educate others about what we do. Talk about your skills and knowledge to everyone you meet from neighbors to patients to members of the c-suite. Our feature article on the importance of a professional portfolio will inspire you to showcase your professional accomplishments. There's no better time than now to put one together!
