Hey folks, I'm not a big pasta guy, as you well know, but I can't deny the simple beauty of sitting down around the dinner table as a family and eating a big plate of pasta adorned with meaty red sauce and piles of grated parmigiano reggiano (or my personal favorite, pecorino Romano). It's true comfort food, and comfort living. Because time with your family should be comfortable, intentional, and relaxing. The way we all live these days makes it hard for those breather moments, the ones where you just slow down, disconnect, and sit with the present moment and those participating in it with you. Life, work, and even our phones pull at us in every direction. Family meals bring us back and center us. And as an aside, there are some great healthier, lower-carb pasta options out there these days. I particularly like the lentil/chickpea pastas—much higher in soluble prebiotic fiber, potassium, and other nutrients and lower in digestible carbs. Or you could always do zucchini or butternut squash noodles. Or, hell, splurge and eat the regular stuff! I think everyone could use a family pasta meal from time to time, even if it's not family by blood, even if there's no pasta at all (I'll admit I've had meat simmered in Primal Kitchen pasta sauce as a standalone meal plenty of times). |
