Thank you for your letter and your invitation.
I must say I was surprised to hear from you, in such a carefree tone, after what happened at Christophe’s country house last summer. You really did make a mess - although I’m glad to hear you are on some sort of program to reign in that kind of behavior.
Despite my better judgement, I will come to Paris soon and I don’t mind staying with you and bringing you a few of your usual indulgences. But I’m not interested in meeting or smelling “your” George.
