The latest insights from CDP, the global environmental disclosure system

We are at a critical point in history; we can still limit global warming to 1.5C, but immediate and ambitious action is needed across all facets of society. As highlighted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5C, the consequences of inaction – and just 0.5C more warming - will be severe.

Home to 50% of the global population and responsible for 70% of energy related carbon emissions, cities will be critical in the fight against climate change. CDP’s data shows they are already preparing for the low-carbon future. Since the Paris Agreement in 2015, we’ve seen the number of cities disclosing to CDP double, while 90% more cities have reported emissions reduction targets.
