By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor LSU is taking down Kirby Smith Hall floor-by-floor and selling the bricks from the old dormitory for $100 each. The university canceled plans to implode the building this summer, saying it would be cheaper to take it down gradually. LSU also never got around to changing the name of the building, which honors a former Confederate general. Heavy rains will be around for at least the next few hours. Forecasters have posted a flash flood watch for those times when rain will fall fast enough that it cannot be carried away soon enough. Stay safe out there. And be aware of the usual trouble spots (looking at you I-110, Acadian, Bluebonnet). The federal energy secretary was around yesterday, visiting a part of the nation's strategic oil reserve and touting the Biden administration's energy policies.
