Move To Fife Sparks Growth For Kalopsia Collective

Just six months ago, Kalopsia Collective relocated to Dunfermline, which has proven to be a catalyst for growth.
 
The Scottish accessory and apparel manufacturer, like the rest of the textiles industry, experienced a downturn in the first quarter of 2022, but in the last three months, business has never been busier.

A handful of new collaborations and partnerships have been secured, with one new contract worth £6 million annually, once production is at full capacity.

The Low Carbon Transport Loan has been extended to cover used electric vehicles which enables  Scottish businesses to receive financial support for the purchase of a used electric vehicle.

The interest-free Used Electric Vehicle Loan for businesses offers businesses in Scotland up to £30,000 to cover the cost of purchasing a used electric car or used electric van.

Fife Council Economic Development Team is looking to support a limited number of Fife businesses to attend a one-day visit to the UK Construction Week on the 4th October 2022 in Birmingham as part of theTrade Development Programme.

As the largest event dedicated to knowledge sharing, best practice, problem-solving and product sourcing, it is the environment for the whole industry to discover, develop, discuss and do business, providing all the answers for how to build for the future.

Inspiring a New Generation of Tech Entrepreneurs

A contract worth up to £42 million has been awarded to Edinburgh-based company, Codebase, to establish seven new tech scaler hubs across Scotland.

The investment will support tech founders to scale-up their businesses by accessing advice and mentorship from industry experts at the hubs. Partners include Google for Start-ups UK, Barclays Eagle Labs and Reforge, a leading San Francisco-based membership programme that teaches start-ups how to grow using Silicon Valley founders’ best practice.

Appointment of Chief Entrepreneur

A key commitment in the National Strategy for Economic Transformation has been achieved with the appointment of Mark Logan as the Chief Entrepreneur.

The Chief Entrepreneur is expected to be in post for an initial term of two years and will act as a senior advisor to the Start-up Nation Programme, which was established to deliver the NSET recommendations on entrepreneurship and the remaining recommendations of the Scottish Tech Ecosystem Review (STER).

FVA Volunteers Driving The Open Forward

Fife Voluntary Action will have a visible presence at this week's 150th Open Championship in St Andrews, as their Volunteer Fife ambassadors play a supportive role in delivering a safe and enjoyable week for the thousands of visitors set to descend on the town.
 
The ambassadors, recruited by FVA in partnership with Fife Council and The R&A, will welcome visitors to the home of golf and help guide them through the town to ensure a smooth experience for them and locals alike.

Emerging Energy Technologies Fund - Hydrogen Innovation Scheme

The Hydrogen Innovation Scheme (HIS) provides funding to develop innovative solutions for renewable hydrogen production, storage and distribution, as well as the development of test and demonstration facilities in Scotland.

This £10 million scheme is part of the Emerging Energy Technologies Fund (EETF), and is to be delivered over four years.
