Dear John,
About six years ago, we had our good friend
Andy Andrews come to our offices to do a live
webcast. Andy is an incredible speaker and
New York Times best-selling author. But most
of all, Andy loves Dad, and Dad loved him.
We had lunch with Mom and Dad before our
webcast. It was a great time of fellowship.
When we finished, Andy and I headed back
to the office for our broadcast.
Andy was already in our studio when I came
in. When I looked at him I could see tears in
his eyes. “Tom,” he said. “Do you remember
what you were doing when you left the
restaurant? As you walked out, you were
holding your dad’s hand. Tom, you must
take a picture of you and your dad holding
hands as you are walking away from the
camera and send it to me.”
It seemed like a little thing at the time, but
because of Andy’s emotion, I got with my
sister, Cindy, and we took the picture and
I sent it off to Andy.
A few weeks later, Andy returned the
picture to me, nicely framed, and next to
the picture of Dad and I holding hands is
another picture – a picture of Andy walking
away from the camera holding hands with
his two sons.
This simple picture, this snapshot of life,
this little thing, is now my most prized
possession of all the things hanging on
my walls.
This little thing reminds me of so much:
How lucky and blessed I am.
How Dad touched so many others.
How we are never too old, or young, to
hold hands.
How the little things create legacy and
ripple through time.
If you agree with me that the little things
change everything, I encourage you to
check out Andy’s new book –
The Little Things. Andy knows the secret
that Dad knew--that little things change
your life.
You are Born To Win, so go ahead and
Live To Win!
Tom
P.S. Quote of the Day: "Every generation
or so, God produces a person who can
communicate like no one else. His words
are like cool water to a thirsty civilization.
Andy Andrews is one of the best I have
ever seen." – Zig Ziglar
P.P.S. It's The Little Things that have the
most impact!
