'This has undone me': Katherine Magrini said she was on the phone Wednesday, unaware of what was happening in the apartment adjoining hers on Burgundy Street. She then saw her grandson, Morgan Rothe-Skinner, walking around "agitated." Magrini asked him what was wrong, and he told her he had just killed his uncle, her stepson. “Things went downhill.”    

Toxic concerns: There's opposition to a proposed cyanide plant on the West Bank, but not from neighbors near the Waggaman facility where it's planned. The dissent comes from across the Mississippi, where Harahan and River Ridge residents say they're already dealing with noxious odors attributed, in part, to the parish landfill on the opposite bank. The company behind the facility says there's no reason for worry.
