John Bel Edwards made good on a promise he made earlier this year when he lifted the state's mask mandate, reinstituting it starting Wednesday as Louisiana reels from its first post-vaccine coronavirus surge. Edwards delivered an impassioned plea for those who have resisted getting vaccinated or adhering to mask mandates. Meanwhile, Louisiana is poised to break its COVID-19 hospitalization record, some New Orleans restaurants and venues are requiring proof of vaccination and schools are issuing their guidance about masking up.
