More than 20 police officers were called to a disturbance in Garema Place reported The Canberra Times on this day 53 years ago. A Yarralumla labourer appeared in court on charges arising out of the disturbance and was sent to prison for two months when convicted for resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
