COVID has changed in many ways over the last 19 months, including where it spreads. The shots, the delta variant and other unpredictable variables (like pockets of the country that have low vaccination rates) have all changed how the virus jumps from person to person. So where is COVID the most prevalent at the moment? Senior reporter Catherine Pearson wrote a helpful guide on what you should know now. Keep reading below for more valuable COVID stories. We’ve got some advice on checking the efficacy of your vaccines, as well as some booster updates.
❤️,
You Oughta Know There’s been a lot of talk about COVID antibodies from the vaccines and whether we’re losing them as time goes on. Is it smart to take an antibody test before getting a booster? How many antibodies give you enough protection? The answers are pretty complex (and surprising). Reporter Julia Ries asked experts if we should test our antibody levels to determine if our vaccine is still working.
A Minute And Change Got a spare minute? Use it to change your life. Our “A Minute And Change” series will help you become happier, healthier and more productive by doing one thing a little differently. This week’s tip comes from Casey Gilbert, an instructor for iFIT's Marathon Content Series, a new multi-part program that allows users the opportunity to run races like the Boston and London Marathons (and eventually Chicago and NYC) virtually on their connected treadmills. Here’s what Casey does on a bad mental health day:
We typically place a lot of pressure on ourselves, especially us fitness professionals, to be ON at all times. When that doesn’t happen, those negative thoughts can be pretty strong. For me, I reach into my “bag of experiences” — my list of times where I overcame adversity and kept moving. Running the London Marathon ... was a hugely important item to throw into my experience bag. If that negative voice starts getting loud, I think back to taking 60,000-plus steps with over 50,000 other runners in London, each one of them facing their own struggles. If I could do that, then that negative voice doesn’t have much leg to stand on.
Before You Go... The guidance on COVID boosters has been murky at best, so don’t fret if you’re confused. We broke down the most common questions about the additional shots, including the latest on mixing and matching manufacturers. Read it before you book your booster appointment.
