NOLA.com - Lunch Line

The most popular schools. And a deadly hit-and-run.

By Bob Warren

What School? It’s become a rite of spring in New Orleans: Families finding out where their kids will be headed to school for the upcoming year. Marie Fazio checked out the data and tells us which of New Orleans’ public schools drew the most interest.

Hit-and-Run: New Orleans police are investigating a bizarre hit-and-run from Sunday that left one person dead and five others injured. It started with an SUV speeding the wrong way along a one-way street.

Gotta Stop Chris Paul: Did you stay up for the end of the Pelicans’ game last night? If you didn’t, here’s the Cliff’s Notes: The Pels will have to figure out how to slow Chris Paul to have a chance in their best-of-seven playoff series against the Phoenix Suns. Paul, the former Pel (they were called the Hornets during his time in New Orleans) took over in the 4th quarter.

Taylor Hackford Has Died: A well-known New Orleans nightclub owner has died. Rio Hackford, an actor who is also the son of the famous movie director Taylor Hackford, died April 14. Rio Hackford was behind such clubs as El Matador, One Eyed Jacks and the neighborhood bar, Pal’s Lounge.

Hope you enjoyed today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. And of course, be sure to check out NOLA.com for news throughout the day.
