We’re living in a pivotal moment for artificial intelligence, with so much happening so fast that it's hard to take time to pause. Pandora’s box is open, so the question now is how can we best manage the positive potential and great risks associated with A.I.? James Manyika, Senior Vice President of Research, Technology and Society at Google, has been working on A.I. since the 1990s and is the vice chair of President Biden’s National A.I. Advisory Committee. In this conversation from the Aspen Ideas Festival, journalist Thomas Friedman interviews Manyika about the history of A.I. and the fundamental things we need to get right moving forward. How do we aim this technology towards the most beneficial places and away from the most dangerous ones?

Absolutely, says neuroscientist and NYU professor Wendy Suzuki. “The first step is taking time to understand what that anxiety/stress/anger/worry is telling us about what we value in life,” she says.
