We’ve all heard of the church fathers. Names like Augustine or John Chrysostom are constantly floating around, being referenced as those who set forth a legacy of faith. And while it’s a gift to have plenty of voices that have stood the test of time, we often forget about our church mothers.
The early days of the church were not carried by men alone. It was a team effort from men and women alike, and the wisdom they gave us is precious. Their love for God and his people was a light shining in darkness as they showed us the way to Jesus.
We have spiritual mothers discipling us in real time, investing in our growth, and that tradition goes back further than we may realize. “The Church Mothers Teach Us to Delight in Scripture” is an insightful article that allows us to dig into the hearts and minds of these women. We not only learn from them, but we can be encouraged by their faithfulness and apply it to our lives even today. May their love for Jesus draw us to him as well, and may we continue to pass it on to the generations that come after us.
