| You’ve probably wondered why a company that has nothing to do with sumo wrestling went with “AppSumo” as a brand name. So, in honor of National Namesake Day, we’re giving you the origin story. We got our name at Toronado Bar in San Francisco. Noah Kagan was debating what to call his new startup baby, and he wanted something like AppMonster (taken), SoftwareTaco (too old school), or SoftwareSteal (sounds illegal). Eventually, he landed on AppSumo—the perfect blend of software and huge, Sumo-sized savings. |
